 CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENTS

Chiropractic adjustments have tremendous potential to help patients with a variety of issues in their spine and their entire body.  Chiropractic care is one of the best ways to keep your spine healthy and prevent future degeneration in the spine and other joints throughout the body. Dr. Adam is skilled in many different styles of adjusting techniques to ensure each patient is comfortable and finds the best results in their own unique comfort zone.

DIGITAL X-RAYS

Like traditional X-rays, digital x-rays are a great way to see the whole picture of the body. They create an opportunity to get a more complete understanding of each patient’s skeletal structure, taking out the guess work. Unlike traditional X-Rays, digital X-rays can zoom-in to view details of each patient’s specific anatomy and identify potential challenges. Digital X-rays also allow information to be shared and discussed quickly with both patient and other members of the healthcare team.

LOW LEVEL LASER THERAPY

Low level laser therapy (Cold Laser) involves exposing cells or tissue to low levels of red and near infrared (NIR) light. It is also known as “cold laser” therapy as the power densities used are lower than those needed to produce heating of tissue.  Cold Laser Therapy is an excellent treatment that is often utilized to treat a wide array of conditions and pain. This painless therapy allows the body to naturally heal itself with no side effects.  In addition to simple back and neck pain, cold laser therapy has been utilized for a number of inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, tendonitis and sprains.  It has been shown to relieve inflammation and edema associated with many chronic conditions.  The number of conditions that have been notably increased in the usage of this therapy include carpal tunnel syndrome, TMJ pain, wound management, shoulder and neck injuries, muscle and joint pain, as well as a long list of others.

ELECTRICAL MUSCLE STIMULATION

Electrical Muscle Stimulation is an exceptional way to help the body in the healing process. This is accomplished by sending a very small electrical current into the affected soft tissue injury or muscle spasm. The therapy utilizes this current in an effort to help reduce swelling and release trigger points that may have the muscle locked up. It does this by helping the body to release natural relievers of pain often referred to as endorphins.  This is a great therapy if there is a spasm in a back or neck muscle. It works well in relaxing the muscle and allowing it to return to its normal state rather quickly.

OXYGEN THERAPY

Oxygen Therapy provides you with extra oxygen. Some diseases and conditions prevent your body from getting this much-needed gas. Oxygen Therapy helps you function better and be more active. The oxygen is supplied through a tube and delivered through your nose. The oxygen makes its way to your bloodstream, and the oxygen-rich blood is pumped to your organs. Oxygen Therapy can help with decreased shortness of breath, fatigue and tiredness, improved sleep, decreased pain, and increased alertness.

KINESIO TAPING

Kinesio Taping is a rehabilitative taping technique utilized to increase stability around joints and support injured tissues.  The tape allows for increased circulation to injured areas which reduce swelling, inflammation, and cramping.  This will make for a speedy recovery.  Many athletes now use Kinesio Tape to improve their performance.

TRIGGER POINT THERAPY

Trigger Point Therapy:  When muscle tissue is damaged, movement and use of the muscle may be uncomfortable and the muscle will feel tender.  Damage to the muscle can be caused by external or internal factors, including strain, poor posture, lack of exercise, overuse, emotional distress, poor nutrition, and trauma.  The muscle fibers respond by contracting and twisting, making a trigger point.  Trigger points will often have pain at the primary location and have pain radiating elsewhere.  There multiple ways of healing trigger points and Dr. Adam will use a method that agrees with each individual patient.

GUA SHA

Gua Sha is using handheld tools that assist in soft tissue mobilization.  This will improve flexibility and decrease pain by breaking down fascial restrictions and removing scar tissue between muscles.

EXERCISE / REHABILITATION

Exercise/ Rehabilitation is a key step for long lasting results and overall health.  Dr. Adam encourages patients to learn customized stretches and exercises to do at home, in the office, or in the gym.  These specific exercises will help relax overused muscles and strengthen weak muscles that are imperative for stability.

POSTURE CURVE CORRECTION

Posture Curve Correction:  The spine should be straight when looking at the body from front to back.  Sideways curves are problematic.  They can be minor or more severe (Scoliosis).  When looking at the body from the side, the spine needs three natural curves for proper weight distribution and good posture.  Dr. Adam will work with patients using traction equipment, specific muscle rehabilitation/ stretching, and home care to address any curve issues.  This will help alleviate immediate symptoms and prevent premature degeneration of discs and joints throughout the body.
